It’s a company Lijeng Mokoatlethat started off as an idea to provide humane accommodation for all South Africans. It’s a company led by a driven woman. It’s a company that has grown by leaps and bounds and it’s a company that continues to punch above its weight. It’s Lettam Building and Civils, a building and construction company that is building the future of South Africa.
Based in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg and led by the Women in Construction Excellence Award winner Lijeng Mokoatle, a qualified quantity surveyor with more than 20 years of experience, Lijeng continuous dedication and capabilities are leading the company to becoming one of the leading construction companies in South Africa. Lettam Building and Civils provides quality, durable and world-class services such as earth and civil works, roads, storm water drainage, raft foundations, renovations, building and construction, and electrical installations.
The beginning of this success story began when managing member Lijeng Mokoatle needed the finance to buy a Caterpillar tractor-loader-backhoe for her company. Barloworld Equipment introduced her to Barloworld Siyakhula early in 2011, and the rest as they say is history.
In Lijeng Mokoatle’s own words, “the meeting was a fruitful one.” Not only did we help Lijeng arrange finance at affordable and favourable rates, Barloworld Siyakhula also helped Lettam to obtain special terms for plant hire when required. Ever since she started partnering with us her business has had an added advantage of getting expert advice, management skills and financial support.
“On top of everything that Barloworld Siyakhula has done for us, they have also assisted us in the restructuring of our business with a R150 000.00 financial injection. This will see us getting state-of-the-art software and a financial system that will enable us to centralise all our business activities, and go a long way towards improving our financial management. They have also given us working capital to the amount of R5 million at very reduced rates and invested in us by supplying us with training in management and financial skills for entrepreneurship. Through our continuous partnership, we get expert advice whenever we need it and the management skills to continue growing and reaching for greater challenges. And for all this I would like to extend my gratitude to Barloworld Siyakhula.” – Lijeng Mokoatle.
